Objective

• To develop, achieve funding for and administer services that are designed to alleviate poverty and reduce suffering experienced by disadvantaged groups in society and those who are experiencing hardship due to their status as refugees or recently arrived migrants.

• To provide sectoral leadership in the development and promotion of community designed and managed services which seek to improve the lives of disadvantaged communities and in particular refugees and people of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds, and through this seek to develop and promote innovative skills enhancement models such as social enterprises and employment programs that will assist people to become self reliant and meet their full potential.

• To provide mainstream service organisations with the motivation and the skill sets necessary to achieve cultural competency in their service delivery to diversity clients; and to assist smaller and emerging communities to achieve a voice to articulate their needs and wants and achieve organisational governance to foster community development.

• To develop services and programs that are relevant to the widest possible types of client disadvantage and to build in planning, skills and service flexibility which can meet changes in these service needs. The ambit for this will be the whole community, crossing demographic, racial and service specific communities.
